Approaching our 100th meeting…
It is a very opportune time to focus on the background of The Aylesbury Group (TAG).
TAG’s origins date back to early 2017 to a small lunch group of Shaun Brownsmith, Richard Gaster and Daniel Barnes. Shaun’s company had acquired a local accountancy practice, Seddon Smith, and had not been able to find suitable, local networking groups in Aylesbury. Paul Bolton was developing a local law practice at the time and had found the same issue with networking! With his networking background, Paul was invited to join the lunch group along with David Butler.
After a further couple of lunches, using Paul’s past experiences of developing formal networking groups, it was agreed by the Founding Five to see about setting up a new networking group for Aylesbury. The first, introductory TAG meeting was in November 2017 for specially invited local professionals. At the December meeting, 29 businesses were represented and 26 joined as TAG members on the day!
TAG has always been for local professionals, from individual sectors, normally from in and around Aylesbury Vale, and run on a not-for-profit basis. The committee has continued to keep the ethos of having a group of the right people that can develop relationships, do business effectively, all without being sold to….
Right from inception, TAG meetings were to be held every month of the year, and true to that statement of intent, our 100th consecutive meeting is now coming up! The 100 meetings have been right through the ‘Covid Years’, when we held online meetings using Teams and some innovative software called REMO.
The timeline below has been brought together to give a snapshot of some key aspects of TAG. As we go through the month of our 100th meeting, we shall be posting more details on TAG.
